This is the one that made WIP films a genre. Barbara Steele plays a wheelchair bound warden. Erica Gavin is the newbie who must survive lesbians, cat fights, and the mad doctors shock tortures. She and another inmate break out, and return to bust out their buddies. Gritty looking with ultra cheap sets, Caged Heat really delivers the goods by packing in every WIP convention there is into a tight package that rips along at a fast pace. The dialogue is priceless, and there are even a few boom cameos that add to the overall entertainment value of this excellent exploitationer.This drive-in classic was the model for 90% of the WIP genre films that followed into the 80's. Just don't go looking for a classy Demme picture. This is Corman produced sleaze at it's best. A must for all WIP collectors.
